What Are People Searching For On Your Site And How Can You Use That Information?

September 3, 2008 By Bill 3 Comments

One WordPress plugin I’m using is called Psychic Search.  The current version is 2.0.1. The plugin installs a menu selection on your WordPress dashboard (I’m running WordPress 2.6.1 at the moment) called Psychic Search.

The Psychic Search dashboard provides:

  • Keywords searched on and how many times in the last 24 hours
  • Keywords searched on and how many times in the last 7 days
  • Keywords searched on and how many times in the last 30 days
  • The last 100 searches from search engines
  • and munch more…   🙂

When you use this plugin you can see what users search for on your site.  That means you can taylor your content to what your users are searching for.

Review your Psychic Search dashboard and that will tell you possibly what to write about on your blog or maybe a service or product(s) you could possibly sell to your readers/visitors.

You can also use the information from Psychic Search to add tags and alter keyword phrases or in your content so readers can find the related content more betterly.  Who knows, you could increase your search rankings for those keywords and phrases in Google at the same time.  Woo Hoo!!

Are you finding words that your visitors are searching on at your site but they didn’t find anything pertaining to those words?  Well, this might be the idea opportunity to write content or provide a service or sell a product based on those missing keywords and phrases.

I think you get the idea.  When you look through the last 100 searches from search engines list, the keyword phrases will get you thinkin’.

This is a great plugin. Now finding information on what your visitors are searching for is extremely valuable. It’ll all depend on it’s accuracy, though and how one will interpret and use that data.
